Card: More corners than an octopus has legs

Hi, hi, hi.

Judging by the list of people who've entered the patterned paper giveaway on 3DJean's Design Team blog it's safe to say most of them are my blog readers - so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you when the winner is drawn on Monday 7th May. That's this coming Bank Holiday Monday - so if you haven't already added your name, you can hop over there now.

[The background florals and the graph paper design on today's card are both from the range being offered as a prize].

Over the last few weeks here I've been openly revealing my predilection for corner related elements in my current papercrafting ... and, if it were needed, today's project is just further proof:
It's a double corner delight. A photo corner AND corner-rounded corners! I may need to lie down to recover.

It's quite a small card made from folding over a narrow band cut from a length A4 kraft card.

I bought a big, cheap, bumper pack of kraft off-cuts at a recent papercraft show thinking they'd be ideal to cut down and turn into mini square cards. But when I folded one over I liked how the rectangle shape gave me a larger canvas to work on, while still feeling like a cute small card:
The octopus stamp is by Kars and is, like the elephant stamp from yesterday's post, another example of the kind of simple outlined, cute character designs I love to use when I want to colour-in!

The finishing touches, along side a ubiquitous word sticker from 7Gypsies are a few bits of ribbon, twine and a mini-tag:
And, as I discussed in this earlier post, it all came from the bag of interesting 'bits' I throw odds and ends into when I've finished other, larger, projects. I find it a perfect way to make quick little cards luiike this one.

--------------------------------

I'm just realising now that it's a bit perverse of me to have posted about cardmaking today ... on International Scrapbboking Day!

Also ...

...I overheard a woman in Hobbycraft this morning dithering and debating about starting a scrapbook ... and I didn't intervene and try to tempt her over into the scrap-side. Shame on me.

Let's just agree to keep this all to ourselves shall we? I don't want to be banished from the inner sanctum of the scrapbooking realm just yet.

  1. Hi Julie, this is such a little cutie,I love to make small cards myself, they do say good things come in small packages! I thought of you earlier as I was using up all the tiny off cuts left over from a card, I've sort of come to a decision to try and make a gift tag using up all the bits at the end of every creation instead of piling them up on the side and having to throw them later when they get rolled over by my chair.Mine isn't as lovely as your collaged creations but I have to start somewhere!.Enjoy your weekend,Julie.x

  2. I think it must be your association with PaperCraft Inspirations - too much card making and not enough scrapping ;-)

  5. I sm a huge fan of rounded corners too - ~I reckon it must come from my 1950s roots. I especially like that cluster of tags and ribbon-y goodness down the left. ...
